I get really weird about not knowing what happens in books. I won't even read the jacket most of the time because sometimes it will say something you don't find out for half the book. Movies, I don't really care about because I don't watch many. But books, I'm kind of a crazy person about.

Maybe it has something to do with me not liking surprises? I don't know... Anyway, I do agree that you are crazy, Beth.

I almost forgive you. No. I do I forgive you. It's just that...if something is really well crafted, and I don't know what's around the next corner, like in this book, then I don't want you to ruin what the author has worked so hard to surprise me with. They put all this effort into my turning the page and going "NO WAY!!!" but in a way that is exciting and great, not in a way that's like, oh this makes no sense, this doesn't fit at all. I think that takes real talent, and so when you spill it before the author (or director, or whathaveyou) does then you're essentially stealing their well earned thunder. I do agree though that foreshadowing and the like are interesting to look for. I'll look for that the second, and third times through. It doesn't mean I want to know the ending. I don't. If I can guess the ending too early then you're dumbing down the story for the morons and I don't get to feel superior. If I can work it out JUST before everyone else gets it I'm THRILLED. If I don't figure it out at all but it makes perfect sense and I should have been able to figure it out, then you're a genius. Wow...I could go on and on, do I get some sort of prize for longest comment ever?

Oomm, if I could take it back, I would. It was an honest mistake, too. I just got the chapter order confused! Anyway, you can't stay mad at me because I am so wonderfully charming, right?
